Central College Nottingham began life as South College Nottingham in 1971 on the site of Lutterell Comprehensive School in West Bridgford. In July 2011 the
college merged with Castle College Nottingham, gaining the sites and facilities of Castle College, and changed to its current name in 2013.

Courses & Teaching

The college offers higher education courses in Accounting, Computing, Teacher Training, Science, Criminal Justice, Sport Coaching, Engineering, Visual Arts
and Digital Media.

Costs

Fees are set at £5,995 for full-time students.

Student Life

Nottingham is a popular place of study with students from all over the world. This city is located within the centre of the United Kingdom, making it very
easy to travel to other major cities around the UK. The city itself is a mixture of old and new: students can take advantage of some of the best shopping
facilities outside of London as well as being able to enjoy historic attractions including Nottingham Castle, the Lace Market and the Underground Caves.

Nottingham’s large student population means that there are regular events catering for most tastes and moods. Nottingham has a reputation for an excellent
clubbing culture but Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, The Bell Inn and Ye Olde Salutation all claim to be the oldest pub in the UK and give Nottingham’s
residents more relaxed options for night-time socialising.

South Nottingham College had previously provided support services through the college, while Castle College Nottingham had an award-winning student union
which had a reputation for being an active force in the student community.

Facilities

The original college site is in West Bridgford and acts as a headquarters and main facility for a wide range of sites accumulated over the years and
acquired in the recent merger.

Accommodation

Though Moorgate House offered accommodation to a relatively small amount of Castle College’s students, the lack of accommodation at South Nottingham
College means that the vast majority of students will be renting privately or living at home.

An en suite room within Moorgate House was available for Castle College students and cost around £4050 per year in 2010/2011, which works out at
around £92 per week. Accommodation had not previously been available at South Nottingham College. A homestay placement ranges in price but usually
costs around £75 per week, or £85 for bed and breakfast. Local living costs within the private sector are quite low. A flat or house-share can be
secured within the nearby area for around £55 – £65 per week.

Education

Teacher training, digital media and a range of foundation degrees are offered. The merger gives the college another well-stocked library.

Sport

Central College Nottingham already had strong sports facilities as many students do courses relating to sports and fitness.
