Our students can try out all sorts of new subjects, combine the ones that interest them or even change their mind about what they’d like to graduate in. This flexibility is available on many of our courses, while other more vocational degrees that are aimed at specific careers (e.g. nursing, social work, education) do not follow the flexible structure. SPORT

Sport is in our DNA. As Sports University of the Year (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020) and Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence our Sport degrees focus on sport science, performance, business management and psychology. We’ve developed an international reputation for delivering Sport degrees that get results.

We’ve integrated our Sport courses with the University’s world-class sports facilities to provide a unique and rewarding studying and sporting environment. We prepare athletes for success on the world stage and improve the health of the nation through physical exercise.

Stirling remains at the forefront of supporting and inspiring talented athletes to fulfil their sporting and academic potential, offering sports scholarships across seven different sports. It also offers the perfect base for students, staff and members of the wider community to train, play and stay healthy.

ACCOMMODATION

Undergraduate accommodation

If you’re looking for the perfect place to call home during your studies, we’ve got you covered. We’ll guarantee you an offer of University-managed accommodation in your first year of study if you meet the eligibility criteria. All you need to do is confirm your place at Stirling and apply for accommodation within the timeframe we give you. Our undergraduate students will normally be allocated a single study bedroom in a University residence. The University has 2,900 bed spaces, over 19 properties, and your accommodation may be located either on-campus or off-campus.

Postgraduate accommodation

You can apply for postgraduate accommodation as long as you have received and accepted a conditional or unconditional offer to study at the University. Postgraduate accommodation contracts run for 50 weeks from September to August. This means you can stay in your room over the Christmas holiday period if necessary.

LIVING EXPENSES

Just because you’re choosing to study doesn’t mean you’ve got to fall into the cash-strapped student stereotype. There are plenty of ways to manage your money and stretch your finances to make sure you live comfortably while studying with us.

However it’s important to put together a budget for living costs at university so that you can see the potential costs of living away from home. The cost of living can vary greatly depending on your lifestyle and spending habits.

Stirling been named the UK’s most affordable city five years in a row by Lloyds Bank (Lloyds Bank’s Affordable Cities Review 2019). The cost of living in Stirling is more than 40 percent lower than London.
